“As a kid I don’t think there’s anything more exciting on a snowy winter night than hearing school has been cancelled for the next day. It’s almost better than the actual time off itself. I love books and learning, but I was mostly miserable in school. So, getting the day off was fine by me. The worst was when all the snow days would get used up and we’d have to tack on the extra days at the end of the year, eating into summer vacation. My favorite part of the year is late spring and early summer. Having to spend it locked indoors while the teachers played movies because they ran out of lesson plans was utter torture. I say: If school must be missed for weather, use the snow days built into the schedule. If the days missed go beyond that, forget about it. Enjoy your summer.
