As a mum to a 1yr old and 3yr old my heart tore and i started to cry for this baby. Although it is not an abuse case us big people still need to keep an eye out for any type of danger... An Auckland family is furious their two-year-old was seriously injured on a childrens ride at the annual Funfest. The boys leg was broken in two places over the weekend, and the skin ripped to the bone after his foot became trapped. The ride had no restrictions on the height or age of children using it. Now little Cruze Davis wont walk for months. They have told me it could take up to two years for a complete recovery because I am going to have to teach him to walk again, says mum Jade Nelson. Two-year-old Cruze and Ms Nelson attended the annual Funfest at Alexandra Park over the weekend. They were walking through the Crazy Circus House – a maze with turning foam machines – when his foot became stuck in a gap. Then he started being catapulted around by this machine, just being thrown around, says Ms Nelson. I was screaming for help. I was screaming for the machine to be stopped. All I could do was put my arms under my son and pretty much run with the rotation. 3 News A stranger managed to get him out once the ride stopped. Her son was in shock. All he said was, Help me mum. Help me. X-rays showed how bad the break was. He has needed two operations already. His leg was completely jellified from the hip down, just jelly. Funfest said it was the first accident in the 12 years it has been operating. Funfest organisers say it was a freak accident, a one-off. They are devastated and sorry. WorkSafe New Zealand attended the scene immediately. The ride was closed and an inspection was done, before the ride reopened to the public that afternoon. Funfest raised more than $40,000 for a childrens charity. The ride requires parental supervision, but the Nelsons now want age and height restrictions imposed.
