As always, Rodeo weekends seem to come and go so quickly. You plan and look forward to them and before you know it the weekend is over and it’s back to our regular routine of work that pays the bills and gets us (me) to the next rodeo. This past weekend I was in Sacramento for the Capital Crossroads Rodeo and it was 108 which was ironically also my contestant number. Strange how things sometimes work out that way. My Dad, Mom, Sister Pam and niece Bethany all came up from Fresno to watch me compete in the rodeo for both days. I was so happy they decided to come despite the temperatures. As my dad put it, "I could be in Fresno where it is going to be 113 or Sacramento where it was cooler and enjoy a rodeo". It has been less than a day and I miss my family so… I love my family… This was the first time my Dad has seen in compete in something since I was in baseball all those years ago. I placed 3rd in Steer Decorating with my teammate and friend Ryan both days. I placed 3rd in Chute Dogging on Saturday with no cover on Sunday, sometimes they make like Houdini and disappear out of your hands. At the end of the rodeo as we all parted I gave my dad my contestant number "108" that I had worn for the weekend rodeo, he smiled. I figure I will see it posted up on the family portrait wall with one of the rodeo pictures the next time I visit. I wish we lived closer to each other. The rodeo also had a couple other very fond moments for me where Shane a very good friend that I have not seen in over two years just shows up to watch which got me really choked up inside. Also my dearest girlfriend Denise who lives in SF but just happened to be in Sacramento over the weekend. I am so glad you stopped by. The weekend would not have been complete without some of my good friends there competing side by side with me. Mark, Michael, Jason and Anthony, You guys keep it fun and balanced. Tom, my rodeo husband, Thank you for being by my side and helping me out and rodeo’ing with me, the videos you take for all of us and all of the dancing. It’s no wonder why our feet are tired after every rodeo. Deanna, my rodeo wife, miss you a whole bunch. Can’t wait till you are back out playing in the dirt with us, Cowgirl Up ! As some of you may know, I have a special man in my life that came out to watch me rodeo for the first time. Not only did he come out for the rodeo he also got the opportunity to meet some of my rodeo buddies and friends from outside of our Sundance circle. Most of all he met my parents, sister and niece… Michael, thank you for being joining me for a rodeo weekend…
