As many of you are aware, the Federal Government has made significant changes to family assistance law that will directly affect the family day care sector. The legislative amendments were announced late yesterday and the changes were made without consultation with the national peak body representing the family day care sector. While FDCA supports the Government’s intention of increased compliance, we share the numerous concerns that have been expressed on social media and will advocate strongly on behalf of our high quality services and educators. FDCA is particularly concerned with the legislative amendment restricting family day care educators’ ability to access family day care as we believe it undermines parents’ rights. We are currently formulating a formal response and will consult with the FDC sector regarding these changes.
