As most of you know my step-mom passed away last week and we held - TopicsExpress

As most of you know my step-mom passed away last week and we held a Memorial Service in her honor… I would like to take this time to thank some very special folks… First and foremost, thank you Grandma because just as you did in life you once again brought our family together. I’m sure you were pleased with the group of family and friends who gathered, but not so much with all of the recognition that came your way… Thank you to Pastor Rogers… That was a tremendous memorial and you did our step-mom justice… Just one note for my cousins’ sake who attended from Texas, it’s Den “i” son not Denson… LOL Thank you so much to my beautiful wife Myriam Blanco Reeves… Without your presence and reminders to be strong for my Pops I would have been one huge balling baby!!! Whew, I almost lost it a few times, but your tender touch and firm grip when needed helped tremendously… Thank you honey! Thank you to my Texas family, my Molino family, my Jay family and all the special friends who attended and helped us celebrate Grandma’s life… A huge "HUG" and thanks to my dear friend Carla Carter Hall who went to see Grandma in the hospital after her stroke in my stead because I was in Europe and could not be there… You are such a sweetheart and great friend for life, thanks again for being there and letting my friends know as well... A special thanks to my sister Keitha Reeves Lay for being there when Dad needed someone close. I appreciate and love you Sis… You are one of my heroes… Or should that be heroines??? Also, thank you to my Facebook family… All of your prayers and kind words are greatly appreciated… Finally, thanks to my Dad, you truly are the rock of our family… However, as many of you learned at Grandma’s Memorial he’s not just the rock. I’ve always known my Dad as tough, strong, honest, and not willing to take crap from anyone… He’s a real man’s man. My John Wayne and a 3 tour Viet Nam Veteran for heaven’s sake. He’s the toughest man I have ever met or known yet most have never seen his compassionate side, the side that loves as equally and powerfully. Not only will Dad lay down his life for his family and country, he will also love them unconditionally through every breath they take. When you are loved by Pops there is nothing he would not do for you. He will go to war for you or cool your fever with a damp wash cloth. He will punch someone in the nose who disrespected you or hold you in his arms until you warm up after being cold. He will take a bullet without blinking an eye for you or pamper you back to health if you took one yourself… My awesome daughter-in-law Yeni Reeves once told me, “When I met Grandpa I felt so welcomed and loved. His hugs are the best!” Yup, my Pops is tough and he has been so strong through this whole devastating ordeal. However, now the company has left, there’s no one for him to take care of, and his house is empty... So just as you all lifted our family up in prayer during our difficult time of my step-mom’s death I ask that you lift my Pops up now… These are going to be the toughest times of his life and he is going to have a real battle on his hands. He recently told me that when he was cutting his lawn that he saw Grandma behind every corner of the house and every blade of grass… When we were all there with him, he took a moment to get everyone’s attention and said, “All I see are smiling and laughing faces all around me. You’re doing good… Keep it up!” Now that those faces are gone God is the only one who can comfort him so please remember Pops in your prayers and as always thank you and God bless…
