As most of you know we sadly lost our first Bright Red Ambassador, - TopicsExpress

As most of you know we sadly lost our first Bright Red Ambassador, Lee Robson ,to leukaemia in 2013. Lee was first diagnosed with leukaemia in 2002 when he was 23. He became involved with Bright Red as he wanted to give back to the people who helped cure him, and he wanted to help patients who found themselves in the same position. In 2012, after he’d taken part in Ride for Red to raise funds for an Outreach Nurse, he was diagnosed for a second time. Lee received a second bone marrow transplant. Sadly the disease could not be cured. During Lee’s second round of treatment he helped set up Bright Red Patient Care Grants. These are one off financial awards given to blood cancer patients in most need of assistance. Bright Red has now given out over £20,000 to patients across the north east under the grant process with more applications being made every week. During 2014 we’ve given out twice as many patient care grants and the demand keeps increasing. More and more patients are required to travel substantial distances to receive specialist treatment. This often means an increase in spending at a time when patients often experience a reduction in income. The Lee Robson Patient Care Grants provide a lifeline to the patients in most need. We’re eternally grateful to Lee’s family and friends for all that they continue to do. They’ve helped so many families. chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/blood-cancer-charity-bright-red-7872957
