As promised here is the second Video Clip from the album. It was co-created with Kai Sanderson we had a bit of green screen silliness and fun with this. With a real budget we wouldve shot it in Sydney where the song was set, but Brisbane it was. Also additional footage was shot by Ray Alonso Proust and Simon Bernasconi .i hope you get a laugh. Its track two off the double album Sunshine Avenue. it follows Butterfly which is the rebirth song after I gave us all 50 Seconds to live at the end of my previous double album Letting Go! This track City Lights is Rock n Roll. I wanted to go for something like Elton John and Bernie Taupins classic Saturday nights alright for fighting - In the making of Yellow Brick Road Classic Album Doco, Bernie re-tells his story of growing up in a town where that was your average Saturday night. I wanted to recapture some of the recklessness of my own youth and revisit that indestructible feeling that I and many of us so innocently had. I decided to focus on that time just after 18 when I was most experimental with my limits. I moved up to Sydney to study acting at NIDA and met a bunch of amazing and talented people. One of which was this confident and wildly charismatic young man named Danny Rigney RIP. Danny had lost his older brother tragically and I related to him on this deep level - it was our shared sorrow. Danny was a few years older than me and took me under his wing a bit, although I guess I was like a little brother to lots of my NIDA mates who I think perceived my naivety and vulnerability at the time. When I reflected back I recalled this one crazy night when Danny and i took turns at riding on the cars roof as we crossed over the Sydney Harbour Bridge - both of us bedazzled by the high of the wind in our hair and the twinkling lights and stars in our eyes. This was before the days of CC Television so although it was stupidly dangerous neither of us were arrested. We felt like Supermen. This song is a homage to Danny who passed away way too soon, who burnt so bright, his light would be right at home on Sunshine Avenue. For those who knew and loved Danny - like Bala Dwino Stevie Pongo Matt Dyktynski Matt Lilley Shane Nicholson Anthony Simcoe Simon Bossell Fiona Martinelli Susan Prior Youll all recall just how bold Danny was and how his enthusiasm and life force were so contagious- and for fiends like Bang Mango Cools Sean Bedlam Paul Kisvarda Andrew Mabbott Dave Houston and others who lived through similar times and grew up with similar reckless experiences I hope this brings back some wild memories - oh the other thing I should mention about this video is how ironic the shoot was - here i was singing about a time in my life i felt indestructible but i was in fact recovering from Pericarditis and had just lost my mum so was feeling anything but indestructible - life is precious - make the most of it and your time with one another and may those whove passed on continue to shine bright in our stories, dreams, imaginations and in the ways they influenced and changed our lives forever.
