As the Imam is presumed to play a very important role in the mosque and the community at large, 3Z Foundation and MAGLIP (MASAKA GREEN LIGHT IMPACT PROGRAMME) partnered to bring some changes in leadership and management of mosques in Uganda. On Saturday 27th July 2013, a workshop on leadership and management was organized for over 60 Imams and mosque leaders of Masaka municipality and the nearby Villages. The workshop came as a concern due to persistent mismanagement and poor leadership in many mosques across Uganda. It’s a fact that majority of mosque leaders lack qualifications of leadership and management. They have no annual plans, no records on money collected from different sources, poor time management, failure to resolve conflicts, and general lack of simple data like population of Muslims within their own mosques and the localities. The emphasis was to equip the Imams and mosque leaders with simple skills and tools to use while running mosque and community affairs. The struggle was headed by Mr. Katotto Mohammed of 3Z Foundation and Mr. Kirabira Faizoh of Maglip. The plan of the two partners is to move country wide and teach Imams and mosque leaders how to run mosque institutions.
