As the Navigation Officer onboard HMAS Toowoomba in the Middle East Region, Lieutenant Courtney Kruger, is responsible to the Commanding Officer for the planning and safe execution of the ship’s movement. This includes the planning and execution for passages to and from ports and the more confined navigation such as the departure and arrival at the ports. Lieutenant Kruger is also responsible for the navigational and ship handling aspects and the conduct of seamanship evolutions such as replenishments at sea, anchoring and proceeding to the buoy. Lieutenant Kruger’s responsibilities extend to the maintenance of navigational and meteorological equipment and forecasting.
