As we approach the anniversaries of the Space Shuttle Challenger - TopicsExpress

As we approach the anniversaries of the Space Shuttle Challenger and Columbia accidents, the museum remembers the women crew members who were lost on both missions. On the left from the Challenger accident on January 26, 1986 are Judy Resnik of Akron, OH and teacher in space participant Christa McAuliffe. In the center photo are the women astronauts who died on the Columbia accident on February 1, 2003: Kalpana Chawla and Laurel Clark. The lead capsule communicator (capcom) for the crew in Mission Control for the Columbia STS-107 mission was astronaut Stephanie Wilson who just spoke at IWASM on Martin Luther King day.
