As we are about to celebrate the 116th Anniversary of the Philippine Independence, we remember that the road to building a stronger Philippines is a long one. We still have miles to go, and so much work to do. We take inspiration from the selfless acts of our national heroes of the past, as we try and live our lives as modern heroes of today. The Embassy remains committed to serve and assist the Filipino community in Kenya and in the other countries under Post’s jurisdiction, and thanks the Filipino community and its leaders for their invaluable support for the attainment of common goals. We hope all of us, united as one people, private sector and government working together closely to build our beloved country, guided by the spirit of God will be able to make even more contributions, helping each other, being a source of solace and strength for each other, encouraging, protecting, caring for one another, we will be able to reach our common and collective aspirations as Filipinos in a foreign land. The Philippine Embassy wishes to acknowledge and thank especially the Members of the Board of Philcommkenya- Mr. Romeo de la Cruz, Dr. Fred Acosta, Mr. Edward John “Brad” Rodriguez, Mrs Eugenia de Guzman and Mrs Gloria Salazar for the support to and partnership with the Philippine Embassy and for your devoted service not only to the members of the Filipino community in Kenya but to brothers and sisters of different nationalities and to other Filipinos beyond Kenya - We remember their most recent support for the efforts in connection with the Filipino Community Basketball Tournaments, the Asian Variety Bazaar and the ASEAN Charity Food Festival to rebuild the lives of those affected by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) among MANY MANY other contributions the team has so generously contributed in terms of time, effort, and sharing of their resources. We can not thank them enough for their spirit of volunteerism -- serving as members of the Board of Philcommkenya even without compensation, and even sharing their own personal resources for the good and benefit of many. Again, we thank the entire community for its support and special thank you to our Filcom leaders for your many contributions for the good of the Philippines and the Filipino people. We hope to see everyone at the Philippine Embassy to celebrate our Independence Day this 15 June 2014. Details of the celebration to be posted soon. Thank you for your support. Mabuhay po kayong lahat!
