At root, though, the contrast between Amundsen and Scott was not - TopicsExpress

At root, though, the contrast between Amundsen and Scott was not about details of management but broad outlooks - those of the professional and of the amateur. In Norway, there is very little tolerance for failure in expeditions one historian said You go, and you come back whole. The British, in contrast, emphasized the struggle, believing that character, not skill, would win out and that death was heroic.........I am inspired by how Amundsen prepared his expeditions, he always tried to learn from others. He identified the problem, then looked to solve the problem. One of my fave stories of the race to the South Pole.
