August 5 Yesterday we made only 35 miles but today we picked up the Northeast Trade Winds, and our deck immediately assumed an angled of 45 degrees. Our day’s run was 170 miles and we are about half way between Florida and the Canary Islands, in the middle of the North Atlantic. Our poor little kitten has barely existed since we left port- It has very little care and is stepped on and knocked around. Like the sailors, it is a tremendous water drinker, but unlike the sailors, it eats very little.
