Automatized Anesthesia: New Technologies Anesthesia plays a major role in the successful completion of any surgery, irrespective of its nature whether it is major or minor. Surgery patients, compared to other patients are three times more likely to receive harmful medication errors as per the US Pharmacopeia study. Dosing and communication errors are contributing to 3% of Anesthesia related preoperative errors that harm the patients. Anesthesia Information Management System (AIMS) for example is one of the automated drug delivery systems that promise to minimize errors in this aspect. It eliminates had written errors and notification on potential overdose or adverse drug reaction and alerts the anesthetist on expiry of drug.
