BAAT CHEET Interactive Wednesdays at Anhad 5.30-7.30pm Every Wednesday at Anhad office we have two hours of vibrant discussion and hot tea ( we can continue to serve tea if you also contribute towards it) August 2014 PROGRAMME This Wednesday on August 13 Dr Akhlaq Ahmad Aahan will speak on Dara Shikoh aur Hind-Irani mushtarqa rawayat (Dara Shikoh and Indo-Persian synchretic tradition). Akhlaq ‘Ahan’ is an academic and scholar of Indo-Persian Studies and a bilingual poet of Persian and Urdu. His areas of interest includes Persian sources of history and culture, Sufism, Khayyam, Rumi, Amir Khusraw, Bedil, Modern Persian Literature and Urdu-Hindi Literature. He is Associate Professor at the Center of Persian and Central Asian Studies in Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi since 2001. Earlier, he also taught in Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi (1997-2001) as Visiting Faculty. He has published several books to mention a few: Mas’ala –e-Tamsil Der Adabiyyate-e-Farsi (Persian), Hindustan meiN Farsi sahafat ki tarikh (Urdu), Adhuri tasweer (Hindi), Kulliat-e-Azad Kakorwi (Persian-Urdu), Maqalat-e Arshi. Recently he has published book Amir Khusraw’s India (English). He has written more than 60 research papers/articles on Indo-Persian studies and socio-political and cultural issues of India and Persian world and has supervised many research projects. He has traveled many countries and participated in seminars in India and abroad. His forthcoming works on History of Persian Language, Literature and Culture in India, Kulliat-e-Rubayat-e-Amir Khusraw, Khayyam and Bedil would be an enriching addition to the Indo-Persian Studies.His collection of Urdu poetry is titled as Soroor and his long poem as Sochney Pe Pahra Hai. Collection of his Persian poems Goldasta-e-Abyat is the forthcoming addition to his creative ingenuity. Dr. ‘Ahan’ received many awards and a documentary film is made in Iran by Sahar TV focusing on his Poetry and academic contributions.
