The Alumni President, Mr. Buraimo Saheed Olaiya presented his account of stewardship, the highlights which are as follows: 1. Inauguration of TASUED Alumni Chapters to further strengthen relationship for development 8. Scholarship Programme 9. Alumni Building 10. Alumni Representative on Governing Council. The congress members in the spirit of solidarity appreciated the wisdom, doggedness & democratic leadership of Mr. Buraimo Saheed Olaiya on his outstanding and sterling performances having only spent eight months in office, this the congress members noted to be unprecedented as enviable achievements. The President detailed the congress on the proposal brought forward by the past executives as the solutions for the continuous existence of TASUED Alumni Association and it was made known to the Congress members that the Former President, Mr. Tajudeen Uthman demanded the following as a result: (A) That the current executive should expand the cabinet by creating three (3) additional offices (unelected) in the N.E.C to be nominated by him (Mr. Tajudeen Uthman). (b) That he (Mr. Tajudeen Uthman) must be the Associations Rep-In-Council as against the stipulation of Section 2 (VI) of the constitution which states that The President shall represent the association at Tai Solarin University of Education Governing Council. The congress however pass the following resolution: 1. It is highly illegal and a gross assault on the entire intelligence of Tai Solarin University of Education Alumni for an individual (Mr. Tajudeen Uthman) to breach the provision of the Associations constitution Section 2 (VI) of the constitution which states that The President shall represent the association at Tai Solarin University of Education Governing Council the said constitution which he duly signed when he was the President of the association. Also, the congress members unanimously agreed that the former President, Mr. Tajudeen Uthman doesnt have any constitutional backing neither moral justification in laying claim to the representation of TASUED Alumni at the University Governing Council and that out of eight (8) meetings held by the National Executive Council (NEC), Mr. Tajudeen Uthman being the Ex-Officio has never attended more than a meeting. Hence, it was emphatically stressed at the congress through a motion followed by a vote of no confidence in Mr. Tajudeens representation at the council. Resultantly, the Current President, Mr. Buraimo Saheed Olaiya was duly elected and ratified in line with the above section of the Alumni Constitution and in congruent with the directive of the state government that the representation of TASUED Alumni in the University Council shall be from A graduate of the University elected by the Alumni Association. II. That Alumni constitution should not be altered or amended as espoused in Section 14 (IV) of the constitution that The constitution shall only be due for amendment after Five (5) years. III. That the congress rejected the proposal to create additional unelected offices, such is against Section 13 (III) of the Alumni Constitution that Any Law, Act or Rule that is inconsistent with any provision of this constitution shall to the extent of its inconsistency be Null and Void IV. The congress members express their displeasure on the ways and manners the past administration donated the Alumnis property (TASUED Alumni Bakery and Bus) to the University Management, as a ploy to lure the management team to support the illegal ambition of Mr. Tajudeen in foisting his personal interest against the collective interest of the association. The congress added that the donation was not done in good faith nor in consultation with Alumni members but as a clear attempt to silent and decapacitate the implementation of the probe panel report which had indicted Mr. Tajudeen Uthman & the past executives for financial misappropriation and executive lawlessness. Hence the congress members mandated the current leadership of TASUED Alumni to discuss with the management on the state of the TASUED Alumni Bakery and Bus. V. The Congress Members issued a stern warning to any individual or group to stay away from any action that can disregard the Supreme Alumni Constitution or Violate the resolution of this August Congress as that shall be met with stormy opposition and unwavering disapproval from the TASUED alumni members throughout the federation and in diaspora. Notably, the congress members staunchly commended the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun (F.C.A) for rescinding his decision to scrap the premier University of Education in Nigeria and poured eulogy on him for the recent constitution of the Governing Council of our Alma Mater. Signed Adewunmi Micheal National Public Relations Officer, TASUED Alumni.
