BHm - Underwater No 22 Crocodiles Crocodiles or true crocodiles are large aquatic reptiles that live throughout the Tropics in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia. Crocodylinae in which all its members are considered true crocodiles is classified as biological sub family. Although they appear to be similar to the untrained eye crocodiles, alligators and the gharial belong to separate biological families. The most obvious external differences are visible in the head with crocodiles having longer and narrower heads. All teeth are visible with the crocodlies when the mouth is shut. Crocodiles have more webbing on the toes of the hind feet and can tolerate salt water due to special glands. Their general aggression is more severe than the alligator, but does not always have an habitat in tropical areas
