BIG NEWS AT THE JESUS CENTER!! The Jesus Center is pleased to receive a $35,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program for its Community Farm project in Chico so homeless people can acquire vocational skills in agriculture, confidence, hope and a sense of purpose in their lives. The mission of the farm is to offer educational opportunities via growing vegetables and running a flower cart to learn farming and floral practices, business skills, and general life skills to achieve employment. The community farm will increase self-sufficiency, self-efficacy, access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and develop marketable skills in a structured job-training program. The Jesus Center is grateful for the Walmart Foundation’s vision to help non-profit organizations serve underserved populations.
