BITTER TRUTH ON MARRIAGE (Part 51) A DEAF BABE/GUY There are young men and women who go home on Sunday to fornicate after listening to a message against fornication from the clergy. For some married men, Sunday is a day to visit concubines after church service. After the Thursday morning traders’ fellowship (held in Lagos markets during the weekly environmental sanitation exercise), some traders go back to lying, cheating and deception of customers after powerful salvation messages. The question is: Have these set of people got hearing or comprehension problems? “...God is angry with the wicked every day (Psalm 7:11 KJV) God is not just interested in your going to church to dance and sing and make noise to disturb the neighbourhood. He is interested in your listening to his word, meditating on it, and above all, living by it. God says: “Blessed is the man who listens to me” (Proverbs 8:34 NIV). So, whoever does not listen is cursed. Jesus says: “Everyone on the side of truth listens to me” (John 18:37 NIV). Every time, you sing: “Abraham’s blessings are mine.” Yet, you are very far from Abraham’s attitude of obedience to God. Jesus says: “I know you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet, you are ready to kill me because you have no room for my word” (John 8:37 NIV). “If you were Abraham’s children, said Jesus, then you would do the things Abraham did” (John 8:39 NIV). Eight times in the gospels and eight times in the book of Revelation are we reminded that it is not enough just to have ears. We must use them. God is not happy that many people live like deaf babes and guys, men and women. “Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22 KJV). Please, separate yourself from the generation of deaf people if you are one of them. MEMORY VERSE: “Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22 KJV).
