This means that any hope of implementing fair and impartial redistricting now resides with the General Assembly. Letting elected officials draw their own maps is indefensible in the literal sense - Ive never heard anyone defend it. It does our democracy a great disservice by essentially picking the winners of most of our state-level elections before anyone has cast a single vote. There are solutions to this age-old political problem. We must make finding and implementing these solutions a bipartisan priority.
