BRITISH DOGS, VOL. II, ca. 1893 Chapter 28, pp. 394-397 There are at present many small dogs with short, black, shining coats, which on this account are supposed to be a strain of the Schipperke. These latter, which are of Belgian origin, have been crossed with the? small English Black and Tan Terrier, by ^ich means pretty, lively, little dogs have been obtained, inheriting more less the^ character of the Barge-dog.
