BROKEN PROMISES By Carla Massey aka Misteree You say you’re coming to see me I wait So patiently Counting the days So dear to me You said Saturday The day you claim to be back To pick me up I constantly ask my Mom If you’re showing up She hesitates Not wanting to disappoint this dream You’ve given me So I plead and ask why Saturday Came and went You didn’t come to see me Mom tries to wipe my eyes I can’t deny The sadness is real you see It wouldn’t be so bad If promises you let fall from your lips Didn’t cause the reason my tears drip Sitting here waiting dressed and eager I wonder if you can truly see this despair Wouldn’t have to feel this heavy hit If expectations weren’t broken and bent Daddy Maybe wait to make promises If you can’t keep them Or are unsure Your visits I treasure Saying you love me is worth more And let’s plan our visits maybe The day before
