Back in Sweden. Being away made me realize some of the cultural qualities that I really appreciate here. Swedish people are tolerant. And reasonable. They form lines quietly and wait their turn. When I arrived at the Arlanda Airport direct from Bangkok, there was a line for EU citizens and a line for non EU Citizens (which means Americans, Asians, Africans, Middle Eastern countries etc.) Per went to the EU line and quickly was passport stamped and ushered into baggage claim. I however waited in a very long line. And then this Russian couple entered from another door and tried to cut in front of me. I said very politely, "I am sorry but this line starts back there ( I pointed to an area which extended around a corner.) We have all been waiting a long time." The woman looked at her boyfriend rolled her eyes and said to me arrogantly, "Well, I think we will stay here." What an arrogant b@tch. This irritated me. "You know, the Swedish people like their lines. You should try to adopt the local customs." I looked at her disdainfully. Judged her. "By the way, no one wears fake fur in August in Stockholm even those paid by the minute. I just had a nine hour flight and I have not had espresso. I wont put up with your crap and I will no longer be polite. Get out of my way. Now." She stormed off and went to the EU line. I gave her two points for understanding the blue background with a circle of stars...
