Bad news...good news. Someone hurled a brick through our patio doors. But grateful for many things. 1. The alarm went off and apparently scared off the would-be robbers so nothing was stolen. 2. The insurance will cover the patio door damage. Repair men on their way to do a temporary fix. No other damage to the house. 3. No one was injured. Temps in the 80s this afternoon so no chill on the house. We got a call last night about 10:30 am that our alarm went off. Police dispatched. Once we determined that there had been a break in we booked out of our hotel and drove all night. Got home about 7:00 a.m. Crime Scene came fairly quickly. They wont process the house until the owners are there. We are tired and hungry but ever so grateful for the positives. This could have been much worse and more devastating. A neighbor across the way was broken into last month. She had no alarm and much was taken. She moved out the next day. We refuse to let hoodlums change who we are. We refuse to be victims. We like our house. We have nice neighbors. The police will eventually catch whoever is involved. The CSI unit took fingerprints. (Not like t.v. One cop with a camera and finger print duster). And of course, I told her I was a writer so its all material! We continue to be grateful for our wonderful trip and time with loved ones.
