Baluchistan: The Gathering Storm The PML (Nawaz) is summoning - TopicsExpress

Baluchistan: The Gathering Storm The PML (Nawaz) is summoning an all party’s conference to develop a common stance on Baluchistan how to deal with it. Every party will be asked to contribute its input in the national endeavor. It is a good beginning but to what effect. Every party is going to say the same thing. Let us re-establish the writ of the state in Baluchistan. We will not negotiate with the Baluchi nationalists. The followers of Akbar Bhugti have no claim at all. We can do without them.Ask yourself how is it that Nawaz Sharif’s party has emerged as the king maker in Baluchistan. Can you believe that the Baluchis would permit outside forces to encroach upon their sovereignty to do with their assets and their wealth as they deem fit and appropriate. For a long time now the Supreme Court has been pointing out the growing distance between the federation and Baluchistan. It has been warning about strengthening the hands of the secessionists by ignoring their rights to their assets. It has been warning about the continuous abuse of human rights and continuing genocide of the Hazaras of Quetta. And now our politicians will want to establish the writ of the state in an estranged province.Ask yourself, does Nawaz have the same presence, the same ability to influence who governs the province, in Sindh and KP. Can he determine who has control of the resources in Sindh or KP. Now ask yourself, how has this magic been perpetuated in Baluchistan? How can the central government decide what to do with Gawadar? Gawadar belongs to Baluchistan and yet the central government feels free to hand it over to the Chinese. The Chinese are good friends are ours but they have their own priorities. They will derive all the benefits from Gawadar and what will Baluchis get in return zero zilch. There is no quid for quo in this equation. If you were a Baluchi would you accept this?Let Nawaz beware. He is sitting on a powder keg. It will explode. It will be no surprise that the whole world including India, Afghanistan, USA and United Nations will support the Baluchis. I am concerned that this may be replay of the tragedy of Bengal. I pray for Pakistan, I pray that better sense will prevail. I pray that the Baluchis rights on their own land are respected. I love this country and would hate to see harm come to it.
