Bangladesh Pratidin country’s highest circulated newspaper → Staff Correspondent, Daily Sun, 11 March 2014 Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu Monday told parliament that there are some 1,187 listed newspapers in the country. Besides, some 75 online newspapers and 44 satellite channels are also functioning, said the minister while responding to a question of Jatiya Party lawmaker Kazi Feroz Rashid. Of the newspapers, Bangladesh Pratidin, a daily of the country’s biggest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, topped the list in terms of circulation. Bangladesh Pratidin has a daily circulation of 553,150 while the circulation of Prothom Alo is 500,220 copies. Bashundhara Group’s another daily Kaler Kantho has been placed in the third position with circulation of 250,600 copies.Responding to another question, the minister said there was no specific guideline for the online newspapers. “But a draft has been prepared for the online newspapers,” he said.
