Baykeepers - Documentary Film - A must watch for Victorians, especially those living around, and upriver, from our beautiful Port Phillip Bay. After hearing about expansive amounts of plastic in every major ocean, Port Phillip Baykeeper Neil Blake finds the sands of his local beaches are turning into a kind of micro-plastic confetti. In his journey to measure how far the age of plastics has invaded the bay, Neil discovers a growing community striving to protect Port Phillips health for generations to come. In 2011 a new species of dolphin, Tursiops australis, was discovered in the Bay. It is believed there are only 150 of the dolphins in the local region. Plastic pollution poses one of the biggest threats to their survival. Please avoid single use plastic items (bags, bottles, straws etc.) pick up rubbish whenever you see it, recycle and keep spreading awareness. You can pick up a copy of the Baykeepers movie at the Port Phillip Bay EcoCentre The EcoCentre is located at the corner of Herbert & Blessington Streets on the edge of the St Kilda Botanical Gardens.
