Been trying to load a few photos from the local food tasting event at the Farm to Table event last weekend in Pittsburgh but my computer is getting lazy and dont always cooperative. I will try tonight again. The event was fantastic starting with the tasting event where I showcased our own pastured beef in a apple meatloaf with a sweet and sour sauce I made. Using a combination of local and natural products like herbs, honey the meatloaf and sauce had great reviews and even some had seconds. The vegetable dish was roasted potatoes, cauliflower with shredded turnips sautés in herb olive oil and mixed with Magnoodles. Aileen they sure do like your organic pasta specially in a dish that can provide a winters treat of root crops bringing that summer thought of fresh local products in the cold of the late March snows. Saturday presentation on CSAs, Farm Markets, and buying local went equally as well with a standing room crowd of 165 people attending and comments send to me on Facebook and new likes on our farm Facebook page. Next up is Earth Fest at Penn State Shenango Campus with a presentation on how a backyard gardener can extend their season of growing fresh vegetables and fruit economy. I will also present this topic at the Mercer Library on April 22 then April 24 is the Taste of the County event hosted by the Mercer Area Chamber of Commerce. Spring doesnt wait for you but we are waiting for Spring this year for sure LOL.
