Before and after. This art deco club suite has been totally rebuilt, padding, springs and frame. The owners were nearly going to throw it out, but decieded to have it restored instead. Its about 90 years old (mid 20s) and now ready for another 90 years I hope! Now they will have something beautiful, well made and unique. Its a shame that alot of these old suites are ending up in landfill, only to be replaced with a modern suite that often ends up there too in 10 years aswell. Restoring a suite like this is labour intensive and costly, but like any high quality item its worthwhile in the long run. The warwick fabric on this is Aussie made. I saw a chair upholstered in it for sale at H/N, just a plain lounge chair and they wanted $1800 for it alone. I know for certain it wont last as long as this old girl. The back, arms and base are traditional flock and fibre padding with a dunlop foam cushion.This suite was restored by my co-worker Gary, who has had over 50 years experiance in the upholstery trade. The suite is going to Jamieson near Mansfield. With the decline in traditional upholstery, due to cheap imports, we are getting work from further afield because our trade is dieing out.
