Below are excerpts from a letter from Andrew Fairs, Pastor of High School Ministries, regarding student Leo Yangs eye and brain injury. Praise God for our high schoolers, rallying around Leo and his family with prayer: Hello All, Thanks for your continuing prayers for Leo Yang. For the most consistent, up-to-date news on how he is doing, follow the RHCC High School Facebook page, which has been much easier for me to stay up on. I want to make one pastoral comment: my Impact staff and I have all been pretty blown away by our students. After our Crash Course event on Saturday night, when many of them first heard the news, almost all of the students stuck around in Carlson Hall for about an hour and a half and just prayed constantly, and that without me organizing it as I talked to family and staff and all that. They simply ran to the throne of God together. Afterwards, Mary Beth Eroen, one of our Impact leaders who was there the whole time, commented that their prayers were full of desire for God to glorify Himself however He sees fit, full of appeals to Gods total sovereignty, and full of the Bible itself. I have heard them constantly read the Bible to one another and pray Gods Word back to Him in their prayers. It was pretty remarkable. Then yesterday [Sunday], 30ish of us came back to main campus at 2:30 and prayed for a couple more hours where I heard more of the same. That means for a number of them, between Saturday night and Sunday, they had spent 3+ hours listening to Gods Word being taught (between Crash Course and church) and 3 and a half hours in prayer. I just cant help but be struck by this. On the pastoral end, Ive been reminded that our people (even our high schoolers!) will go deeper into prayer, Gods Word, and Gods purposes than we often give them credit for, as long as they are compelled by a cause that they really care about. Lets pray together and shepherd our people into a life of mission that compels more of this kind of focus on God and His glory in all parts of life, not just in tragedy. They have Gods Spirit living in them, and God can use them for great things for His glory. One last thing: Leos Mom passed along that the Lord gave Simon [Leos brother] Psalm 72:14 to pray, which says: From oppression and violence he redeems their life, and precious is their blood in his sight. Join us in praying Gods Word back to Him over Leo and His family. Thanks for being co-laborers with me in this and the rest of our ministry at RHCC. Andrew
