Below, the pledge is specifically worded for the State of NSW in Australia.. but realistically, remove that State and insert any State or Country and the same would apply.. in practice and in theory.. (from Greyhound Racing - Dont Bet On It) Another way you can show your support for the Gone Are The Dogs greyhound awareness campaign, even if you cant come to the rally next Thursday 6th in Sydney is to pledge your support : I pledge support to the Gone Are the Dogs greyhound awareness campaign. Due to the large number of greyhounds bred, killed, drugged, abused and exploited, I do NOT support greyhound racing. I will not bet on racing or attend events at greyhounds tracks and I agree that greyhound racing must stop. Until greyhound racing has stopped I agree that the NSW government needs to: - STOP the over breeding of greyhounds (1) - STOP taxpayers’ money funding this industry (2) - STOP greyhounds being exported to China (3) - STOP hiding deaths and injuries (4) - STOP self regulation (5) (1) Greyhound breeding needs to reduce dramatically to stop the thousands of greyhounds killed each year in NSW. A restriction on the number of greyhounds bred to reflect the number of greyhounds that can be realistically re-homed needs to be implemented. (2) Greyhound Racing NSW is asking for $154 million from the NSW government to keep the industry viable. Our taxes should not be supporting an industry which is not viable and does not reflect the values of a civilized society. Killing greyhounds for betting is not what we want to pay taxes for. (3) Greyhound Racing NSW need to introduce a rule which prohibit its members from exporting greyhounds to countries with no or limited animal welfare laws. (4) The number of deaths and injuries at all NSW greyhounds tracks and the number of greyhounds euthanised by the racing industry need to be accurately recorded. All greyhounds, including puppies born from accidental litters, need to be recorded and accounted for from birth to death. All these statistics need to be collated and readily available to the public. (5) Greyhound Racing New South Wales should not have the responsibility for the welfare of greyhounds. An independent body needs to be established to oversee and protect the welfare of Greyhounds. This responsibility should not remain under the control of Greyhound Racing NSW or any body or individual linked to, or with a vested interest in, the industry. gonearethedogs/pledge-support/
