Best of luck to Monica Mujwid, a US Army Veteran who has departed on a cross-country flight to attend tryouts for the U.S. Paralympic Team in the ice-rink sport of curling! A disabled Veteran, Monica caught the eye of organizers, trainers, and yes, coaches fo the U.S. Team while participating in the VAs Disabled Veterans Winters Sports Clinic earlier this year in Snowmass Village, Colorado. Shes excited to try out for the U.S. Paralympic Team, but admits even if it doesnt go well, shes still getting invaluable experience and know-how from those who can help her achieve her goal of starting a curling team for Disabled Veterans and athletes here in the Inland Northwest. Monica received physical therapy and other health care at the VA Medical Center. She also happily admits the benefits shes finding in time spent with other Veterans through Project Healing Waters - Spokane Chapter and the Inland NW Disabled Veterans Sports Association. For Monica, its really about getting out and enjoying life with other Veterans again! Good luck to Monica who is trying out for the U.S. Team at Lake Placid, NY!!
