Bethesda Defends Elder Scrolls Onlines Subscription Fee Over Gamers Who Is Arguments and Complaints About Their Upcoming MMO with Subscription: Publisher Bethesda has defended the $15 monthly subscription fee for its forthcoming Elder Scrolls Online MMO, saying that the price is justified with regular additions of new, significant content. Nintendo demonstrates indie game support at Game Developers Conference: Nintendo will be at GDC 2014 next week, and plans to show its support for indies in full force. First, Nintendo will be demonstrate to attendees how its Nintendo Web Framework (NWF) tool was used to create a new game demo featuring characters and other elements from the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series . “The game demo shows how developers can create great experiences using NWF, and that the user-friendly, full-featured tool expands access to developing Wii U games to as many people as possible,” the company says. Dan Adelman, manager of Business Development at Nintendo of America, will also hold a session at the Unity booth on March 20 to explain the step-by-step process of how developers can go about bringing games to the eShop. In its announcement today, Nintendo mentioned its relationship with Unity, which allows authorized Wii U developers to obtain a license to develop with Unity Pro on the console for free. Steve Singer, vice president of Licensing at Nintendo of America, said: “We want to demonstrate to developers how easy it is for them to bring their creative ideas to Nintendo systems. Nintendo offers wide-ranging support for indie developers, whether they want to use NWF, Unity or their own proprietary code.” Those who visit Nintendo’s booth at GDC will be able to try out the following Unity-made titles: Mario and friends set to make Happy Meals super in 2014 (UK): Nintendo UK team up with McDonald’s in the Run, Jump and Power-Up with Super Mario promotion Nintendo UK has teamed up with McDonald’s to encourage children to get active with a Happy Meal promotion featuring some of its most famous characters. Launching in store on the 19th March, the toy inside every Happy Meal will be one of eight Super Mario-themed toys, fun activities on every box. The toys will feature classic characters from the Mario series including Mario, Luigi, Toad, Donkey Kong and the classic Super Mushroom power-up. Four of the toys will be interactive including Mario’s Hovering Coin, Donkey Kong Barrel Projector, a Super Sound Mushroom and Mario’s Warp Pipe Embosser. The Run, Jump and Power-Up with Super Mario promotion also aims to inspire children to get active using some of Super Mario’s moves. They will be encouraged to run, jump and complete active tasks set out by Mario and friends. McDonald’s is also launching a Super Mario-themed advertisement to support the promotion which will be available from McDonald’s restaurants across the UK and run until 29th April. Described as a premium game, it will debut in April alongside the movie starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx. Set in Manhattan, the game employs free-roaming web-slinging gameplay as a crime wave grips the city. The story will be inspired by the film, and will feature appearances from iconic villains such as Electro and Green Goblin. An Amazing Spider-Man 2 console game will also launch later this spring for Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, Wii U and 3DS. It features a new Hero or Menace system, which incentivises crime-fighting skills in the world and issues consequences for letting criminal activity happen. Rumour: High Moon Developing Xbox 360 and PS3 Port of Call of Duty 2014: While this year’s Call of Duty game is in development at Sledgehammer, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 ports are rumoured to be developed by High Moon Studios. The latest chatter comes via job ads posted by the Transformers developer, calling for staff to work on “a high-profile, first person shooter for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.” Another ad makes reference to the game being built using Radiant, the same engine used to create Call of Duty games.
