Big Brakes - Why Choose WP Pro? ________________________________________ An aftermarket brake kit is often one of the most expensive investments you can make for your car. These brake kits come in all shapes and sizes, and depending on how exotic your tastes are, some kits can often cost somewhere in the tens of thousands of dollars. Big brake kits were initially designed for all sorts of racing applications, where such high performance environments demand extreme control and response. This extreme demand for control and response makes for a very uncomfortable ride. As such, transplanting these kits into your car is not an easy feat to do without sacrificing the performance of the system for the comfort of the ride. In addition, because of the high performance requirements, these brake kits often include exotic materials which costs a fortune when it comes to maintenance. WP Pro, have worked extensively towards developing a big brake kit that is strong, lightweight, durable, high performance and economical, and have come up with a unique solution that has been successfully implanted into all of our big brake kits. We believe that a kit that allows for a comfortable cruise on a Sunday and a time shattering lap around the track on a Wednesday is not impossible. We invite you to check out their website. The Power To Stop Since beginning in 1981, WP Pro have been producing complete big brake kits and components, and believe that in order to stay on top, it is necessary to embrace and understand the power to stop. As such, they immersed themselves in the racing industry. Since 1989, they have entered their brakes into numerous internationally recognised events and have amassed a vast amount of knowledge and information which has been put to use in their brake kits. See the races they participated in. So Why WPPro? A question often asked by their customers is, “What makes WP Pro brake kits stop better than others?” The answer to this lays in the detail. Here are few examples: • Their calipers are formed through cold forging T6061 under 5000 tons of pressure. Additionally, their pistons are built from high grade stainless steel in order to ensure no warping and resistance to extreme positive temperatures. The result of this meticulous process is a very light, strong, and enduring caliper. As an example, their L6 weighs only 4lbs and their EVO12 being the heaviest caliper of their line up, is only 8lbs. • The hydraulic fluid passage ways of brake systems are manufactured and machined to abide by the strict specifications they pin in place to ensure complete laminar flow of the brake fluid. This reduces frictional losses in the system and aids in increasing smoothness and performance, and decreased response time. • They add heat shields treated with Carbon Nitride to all their calipers. The heat shields act as insulators and redirect the heat of the pads away from the calipers. The carbon nitride further enhances the performance of the shield by increasing its insulation power. • They cold forge their rotor hats out of high grade T6061 alloy for lightness and strength, and utilize directional vane rotor design in order to maximize cooling. • A CNC imprinted WP Pro logo is placed on the rotors as wear indicator; when the logo fades, it is time to replace your rotors. The combined weight, strength, and response of their big brake kits ensure a high performance system without sacrificing comfort. WP Pro Flexibility From simply a fast road big brake kit upgrade to FIA regulated prototype race braking systems, there’s nothing too small or too big for them. As a small company their biggest advantage is quick R&D time. If an application is needed to be developed as quickly as possible they can divert their focus onto the said application which can be developed from the moment they receive necessary OEM spindle/hub assemblies to a complete application with full testing phases within 5 weeks. WP Pro History: _____________________________________ Directly from the owner- WP Pro started as Winner Speed in 1981, we started as a Tier 2 OEM supplier for brake components, from calipers to rotors, during this time, we’ve also began developing aftermarket turbo parts/kits for our Japanese customers. In 1982, we began development for upgrade aftermarket brake components, such as high performance brake pads, cross-drilled and/or slotted rotors, in this time frame, Winner Speed began to manufacture components for mutli-piston calipers and began to use the brand of Winner Power, which later becomes WP Pro. In 1993, we were contacted by several companies in developing multi-pistons calipers that will utilize various pistons sizes in order to provide better stopping power, in 1995, our first 6 piston caliper prototypes have finish all various testing, it was in fact, the first 6 piston calipers in the world that utilize various size pistons in the world, during testing, we discovered one of the main advantages of such set up other than improvedb braking power was the elimination of “abrupt stop” syndrome. In 1997, our 6 pistons calipers were introduced to the North American market under HP Racing, it was showcased at SEMA and the Birmingham Auto Show. In 1999, we began development of the 8 piston calipers which is a break through product, from the data we collected from the 8 piston calipers, we were able to design the new 12 piston calipers that we called EVO12, which today is in its 2nd generation. During this time, we’ve began to manufacture for well known tuners through out the world, in the 2000’s, we began to focus on developing WP Pro brand, our main objective is the highest quality of big brake kit possible, providing both exclusivity and individuality, without sacrificing performance and the ability to use the brakes on all weathers. In 2003, we expanded our manufacturing facility and updated all forging process to 5000 tons cold forged utilizing T6061 material, it is an industry first. In 2009, we developed the newest caliper line, the L8, it is based on our 8 piston calipers design that have competed in FIA open wheel racing, with the main objectives of 2/3 of EVO12’s stopping power at ½ of EVO12’s price. Industry Secrets _____________________________________ WP Pro used to manufacture all of stop tech in the 90s and early 2000s. So when you guys were running Stop Tech, you were running WP Pro. As well, they now manufacture for some prominent F1 teams. This is a chance to purchase factory direct, without getting big on rebranded names. All WP Pro products meet rigorous TUV standards in Germany, and are suitable for Australian road use, which is a reflection of their quality levels.
