Bin Laden traveled in plain sight, his convoys waved through any security checkpoints. 2009, Bin Laden traveled to meet Qari Saifullah Akhtar, “father of jihad” Akhtar is considered one of the ISI’s most valuable assets. ISI ran special desk to handle Bin Laden. led by officer who did not report to a superior. He handled only one person: Bin Laden. As American and NATO troops prepare to withdraw from Afghanistan by the end of this year, the Pakistani military and its Taliban proxy forces lie in wait, as much a threat as any that existed in 2001. militants from Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous province, were massing in the tribal areas to join the Taliban for an anticipated offensive into Afghanistan this year. The United States was neither speaking out against Pakistan nor changing its policy toward a government that was exporting terrorism the real enemy remains at large. The Pakistanis have consistently lied about their involvement with the Taliban, their support and providing shelter and cover for Osama Bin Laden and now their re-equipping the Taliban to re-invade Afghanistan once the Americans withdraw at end December 2014. There are no angels here. When Benazir Bhutto was Prime Minister she did not discourage the Taliban in Afghanistan. When Musharraf took over he encouraged the Taliban. Then it looks like he and his buddies got rid of Benazir Bhutto. Now the present set of power brokers in Pakistan are trying Musharraf in Court for various crimes. Musharraf may be jailed. He may even get blown up. But never mind. The Pakistani ISI is still supporting the Taliban who will make a comeback after the US pulls out at end 2014. Afghanistan is Pushtun dominant. The Taliban are also Pushtun. The Pakistani Army is majority Punjabi (Karpal Singh punya gang). This complicates things. The Pushtuns ultimately look down on them as untermenschen. The Punjabis also feel the same way about the Pushtun. Punjabis eat chapatti. Pushtuns eat naan rhoti. Nothing to fight about. You would think. The Punjabis are going in under the cover of jihaaad. Or as they say it jahaaad (pronounced jahaaat). The real objective is money. The Punjabi generals are very wealthy - they control the Afghan trade. The mullahs are very wealthy too - they control the opium and heroin trade.
