Blessing Day 79 - May the God of Loving Kindness be with you. May your words, gestures, actions be tempered with an awareness of their impact and influence. Loving Kindness goes a long way to healing wounded hearts and spirits. May you be given passionate endurance and zealous commitment to live more justly. May the God of Loving Kindness bless you. -- Mary Ann Barrett, OP A Story For You Today: For the Love of Peace ~ Sister Eileen Jaramillo There rarely is a “perfect match” for anything. And often we work in “mismatched” situations. But every once in a while we find a true “match made in heaven” as with Sister Eileen Jaramillo, a teacher in New Mexico, and her students. The Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids are known for their passionate work to support peace. Their methods and preaching are always grounded in a nonviolent approach. One Sister in particular finds her witness to peace being studied daily by the students at Bataan Military Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sister Eileen Jaramillo is an Instructor of English at the Academy as well as Ensign, United States Naval Sea Cadet Corp. She often says that she is not there to promote war or the ugliness thereof that the students may someday face in the military. Rather, she hopes that she promotes peace in whatever way the Lord leads her with her example to the students. After all, as Sister Eileen pointed out during her interview for the job at the Academy, she may not have been military-trained, but she sure was convent-trained and in discipline, commitment and service, the two hold much in common! Please join Sister Eileen in praying that her students, and all students, learn to seek peaceful solutions in all areas of their lives.
