Blessings in Christ Friends! I just wanted to take this time to share a little information about Missionaries of the Poor for anyone who might be interested. As some of you may know, the Missionaries devote their life in service to Christ through our poor brothers and sisters. They truly live each day to serve one another and rely solely upon our prayers and support. I myself have been so blessed to have witnessed firsthand the works of the brothers in Kingston, Jamaica. For you see, in each face of the residents is the face of Christ. Every tear they shed is a tear from Christ, every laugh they give is the laugh of Christ, every joy or sorrow is all His…. and what joy it is to serve our Lord… to make Him happy! In efforts to give these beautiful souls a joyful Christmas and the gift of food, the Monroe Mission is organizing a container to be shipped to Jamaica mid October. On it will be rice, diapers, medical supplies and toys. This weekend at St. Patricks, we will be having a Diaper Drive. Boxes will be placed at each entrance. Volunteers and the brothers will also be at each mass to collect donations if you are unable to purchase diapers (sizes 4, 5, and 6). With the monetary donations, we will be able to purchase a pallet of diapers which will be the cheapest means for us. A pallet of diapers costs roughly $1,000.00. I ask you all to please consider helping with this great cause. A few dollars will go a long way. I know it is last minute notice and I apologize for that. If you are unable to donate this weekend, I will be in town until October 5th and will gladly pick up any donations you might have, or they can be mailed to the Monroe Monastery. I will attach the flyer below. Also, I know I have spoken with a few people over the past few months about the mission trips to Jamaica. By our Lords grace, I will be spending Christmas in Jamaica this year! I will be going for two weeks, the 15th-29th. So I just wanted to invite anyone who would like to go to join me! You dont have to stay the full two weeks and can meet me down there or leave early… it is definitely flexible and will be a beautiful experience. I pray that God will guide your hearts in this matter. Just let me know if anyone is interested, I would be happy to help search for tickets and contact the brother in charge of the visitors.
