Bob Donahue WILLIAM B HUNTS SON ::: Ken Hunt (Lieutenant Colonel Retired) Chairman Ken Hunt has had a long and active military career. Early in his career he was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group Airborne as a Junior Medic. He left the military in 1983 and entered the University of Idaho; he was commissioned in 1986 and graduated from the University in 1987. After commissioning Ken’s first assignments were as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Scout Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and S-3 Air with the 5th 502nd Infantry, Berlin Brigade. Later Ken was an Intern with J3 Special Operations Division Joint Chiefs of Staff and Special Operations Forces Personnel Systems Staff Officer for the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel Department of the Army. Ken served in 3rd Battalion 10th Special Forces Group for several years. While assigned to 3rd Battalion he served as Detachment Commander for ODA 096, Commander of Support Company, Commander of Alpha Company and Battalion Executive Officer. After serving in 10th Special Forces Group he served at the Army’s Human Resources Command as the Special Forces, Major’s assignment officer. Ken’s final assignment was as the Professor of Military Science at the University of Idaho. After graduating from the University of Idaho Ken continued his education, earning a Masters degree in General Administration from Central Michigan University. Aside from Ken’s own personal military career he experienced the loss of his father, Master Sergeant (MSG) William B. Hunt, during the Vietnam War. In 1966 MSG William Hunt was declared Missing in Action. Bill was a part of 5th Special Forces Group serving in the Tay Ninh Province in the Republic of South Vietnam. MSG Hunt’s body was never recovered and a Memorial Honoring his military service was held in 1976.
