Body maintenance tip: The lats are a massive muscle that attach to the thoracic and lumbar spine, scapula, ribs, and hips. Therefore, if they are tight, you will have a body that is not able to move or function very well. Did you know that releasing the lats will even improve your ability to squat way deeper? Here is a lat releasing peeling technique that I was taught. While it best if someone does it for you, you can do it yourself. Use a towel or shirt to assist with your grip, otherwise you might chafe yourself like I did one time:). Aim to do 30 reps per side. I do this 2-3 times per week as I do a lot of pull-ups/chin-ups so my lats can get tight if I am not careful.
