Its ridiculous that some American publications are firing their staff photographers and providing iPhones to their journalistic staff. I dont care how easy the technology is to use. Its not the technology that matters, the technology needs to get out of the way and let the person behind it capture what they want. Just because youve a camera doesnt mean youll capture good photos, it doesnt give an understanding of light, composition and so much more. Firing the really skilled folks who do have that is not the solution. Really is a ridiculous state of affairs. Fair play to Libération. Hat tip to Mike for the link.
