Breaking News One dead in Merced shooting A 23-year-old man died this morning after a shooting in the 1100 block of P Street, Merced police confirmed. The name of the victim was not released. Police responded just before midnight on Sunday to P Street where they located the victim. He was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said in a statement. Right now we are in the early stages of the investigation and the only information that has been obtained is that there was a vehicle heard speeding from the area. We do not have a description of the vehicle and it is unknown at this time if it is related or not, officers said in the news release. Police said it remained undetermined whether the incident was gang related. More information will be reported as it becomes available. This is the third homicide in Merced in 2015.
