***Breaking news for anyone interested in local history*** I have just placed the first order for my newest book, STORIES FROM THESE SHORES, and they are due to arrive next Thursday, Nov. 13th. Like my earlier works, this one focuses on the history of our area, The Isles of Notre Dame - Twillingate, New World Island, Change Islands and Fogo Island - plus, it has some general history of the Province. It is divided into four sections, starting with a general history of Newfoundland & Labrador, then a this day in history feature, highlighting events from our past by the day on which they occurred, from January 1st through December 31st. The third section has more Sunspots from the old Twillingate Sun newspaper, and the fourth is made up of stories from these shores, a number of short pieces on local characters, nautical history and more. Im especially pleased to present a short story written by my late, great Uncle, Ernest Clarke, last editor of the Sun, some fifty years ago (Thanks again, Peter!); it took place in the 1930s, during Uncle Erns years with the Newfoundland Rangers. The book is about the same size as my History of the Isles, 6x9, and just over 500 pages. If you would like to order a copy, or copies, please message me, or leave a comment, and I will add you to the list. Cost is $25.00, per book. For those who live out of town, I can do mail outs, but the cost for shipping will probably be close to the price of the book. Last year it cost me about $15.00 to ship to Ontario (More out West), and mailing costs have gone up considerably since then. (I can also arrange to have copies sent directly from my publisher, as they are able to ship much cheaper than I can). Due to the high demand for my books this time of year, and the limited quantities, I cant hold copies for more than a few days, unless payment is sent up front. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please let me know if youd like to have your copy signed! ~ Dave Clarke
