Brian Totman has posted this photo of ETPS - Empire Test Pilots School V.744 series Viscount XR801 taken at Farnborough, England in 1964. The life and times of Viscount c/n 89 - 1955 to 1975. This Viscount was built for Capital Airlines as N7403 and first flew on Thursday, 30 June 1955 at Hurn, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England powered by Rolls-Royce Dart 506 engines. During its life it was also owned and/or operated by Continental Airlines, Vickers-Armstrongs (Aircraft) Ltd, LAV - Linea Aeropostal Venezolana, ANA - All Nippon Airways, and the ETPS - Empire Test Pilots School. Its fate:- Withdrawn from service by ETPS - Empire Test Pilots School and ferried to Hurn, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England for storage 25 October 1971. Purchased from Ministry of Aviation by Shackleton Aviation Ltd. after use by ETPS - Empire Test Pilots School and ferried to Baginton, Coventry, England in company with Viscount XR802 using call-sign ‘Tester 107’ 18 May 1972. Total time 11,597 hours. Moved to Shirebrook, Derbyshire, England on the B6407 north of Mansfield, Derbyshire circa 1973. Moved to Bolsover, Derbyshire, England on the A619 east of Chesterfield, Derbyshire to be used as a Café circa 1973. Café project abandoned and aircraft broken up for scrap at Bolsover, Derbyshire, England circa 1975. For photo details click on photo.
