(Bruiser) ITERATIVE PHRASING is the name given to what most would call sequencing. It is a great way to learn a new scale or arpeggio and gain control over the fretboard. Well start with a two octave A minor pentatonic scale and start with an ascending sequence of fours. To do this, play the first 4 notes of the scale starting with the 1st note. Then play the next 4 notes starting with the 2nd note of the scale and so on until you reach the C on the 8th fret of the 1st string. Once you reach that note, work your way back down starting with that note until get back to the A you started the exercise with. Start with a speed where you can do this without making a single mistake. Once you can do this 10 times, increase the tempo. Remember, only increase the speed once you do 10 flawless reps. Another good exercise is in groups of 3s. You will soon discover many of these iterations that you can do. Apply them to arpeggios as well. Start with quarter notes at first working your way up to 16th notes.
