Built memorial For Nov’84 Carnage – Ram Bilas Paswan’s then house be made Memorial Phoolka writes to Union Home Minister that 3 houses of then MPs were burnt by the mob. These MPs were Ram Bilas Paswan, who gave sheltered to a Sikh, S. Gurcharan Singh Tohra and S. Jagdev Singh Talwandi, both Akali MPs. Phoolka demand that Bunglow no.12 Rajindera Prasad Road, the house of Ram Bilas Paswan at that time which was burnt by mob as Paswan gave shelter to a Sikh, should be made a Memorial. This house also signifies that though the ruling party and then government was killing the Sikhs but the opposition leaders were trying their best to save the Sikhs and by doing that they were trying to save the ‘secular fabric’ of the country. Making a Memorial in this house would also signify the communal amity among the people of India. Copy of the letter is reproduced below. H.S.Phoolka Senior Advocate To Shri. Rajnath Singh Union Minister of Home Affairs North Block Central Secretariat New Delhi-1 Subject: Demand for Memorial of the Victims of November 1984 Carnage. Sir, In the November 1984 the Nation witnessed the biggest massacre in the history of the country after independence. Over 3000 Sikhs were killed in Delhi alone. Still Delhi does not have any Memorial for this Carnage. 30th Anniversary of this Carnage is approaching. Three houses of M.Ps. were burnt by mobs in November 1984. (1) House of S. Gurcharan Singh Tohra, M.P.-13 Bishamber Dass Marg, was burnt by mob, (Now there is a Multi Storey building at that place). (2) The house of S. Jagdev Singh Talwandi, M.P.- 3 Mahadev Road was burnt by mob, (Now the house is vacated by a M.P. of Lok Sabha and is lying vacant). (3) The house of Ram Bilas Paswan, M.P.-12 Dr. Rajindra Prasad Road, was burnt because he gave shelter to a Sikh. Mr. Paswan had to run scaling the back wall of the house but the old Sikh whom he had given shelter was caught by the Mob and was burnt alive along with the house (Now house is allotted to a M.P. of Lok Sabha who has lost current elections and this house is likely to be vacated soon) The house 12 Dr. Rajindra Prasad Road, should be made a memorial for Nov’84 Carnage. This house also signifies that though the ruling party and then government was killing the Sikhs but the opposition leaders were trying their best to save the Sikhs and by doing that they were trying to save the ‘secular fabric’ of the country. Making a Memorial in this house would also signify the communal amity among the people of India. The other place where the Memorial - could be built is 3, Mahadev Road, which was also burnt on Ist Nov’84. This house was allotted at that time to an Akali MP Jagdev Singh Talwandi and now this house is lying vacant. This memorial will be Nation’s homage to the innocent departed souls waiting till now in the heavenly adobe for justice. I, earnestly request you to take a decision at earliest and till than these houses should not be allotted to any other person. With Regards, Yours Truly, H.S.Phoolka Senior Advocate
