Busy day! I wrote on the Eli story and got them to where he sees that Chelsea needs his help — but not in a normal way. She needs to find herself, not him. In the afternoon Linda’s assistant, Anne, sent the copyedited manuscript of the Graydon-Toby book. It’s electronic, all done on Word — which I don’t use and have a hard time with — and I read nearly half the book. Over the years I’ve complained so much about copyeditors that now they don’t change and/or question everything I write. But still, they assume I don’t know what I’m talking about and change it, and I have to change it back. Tomorrow I will finish the corrections and I have boxing at noon. I missed last week because of the apartment. Kris O asked about throwing things out. My first ideas for a book are usually outrageous, very complicated and dramatic. I have to tone them down. My first idea for the merman story had a witch who was killing people, had cast a spell on her husband, etc. I threw all that out and started fresh. No witch but a woman who has done everything for love. I like that better. What do you think of the new trend (I think started by Game of Thrones) for unexpectedly killing off main characters? Jude
