CALL TO THE COMMUNITY My name is Jonathan Stevens. I am a poet, artist, and local historian. I am calling on those interested in local history and on artists of all mediums, especially film. I am requesting your involvement in the making of a feature film about Lowell. My vision is for this project to be a collaboration of various social and cultural enclaves in our community. I am currently in my 3rd year of historical research and preparation for this project, which has included capturing over 8,000 photographs of present-day Lowell. The following link is to a four-minute video I created and submitted to the 2013 Lowell Heritage Partnership & Lowell National Historical Park Community Video Contest; I was the recipient of one of three merit awards. youtube/watch?v=mfl7xEbtN48 This video gives a very short glimpse into the feeling of this feature film project. The film will be about the people who have made and are still making Lowell what it is today. My project will present the city in the uncommon form of a feature film--not a documentary. It will provide the people of Lowell a unique way to connect with the city’s story and heart by sharing local culture in a more palatable way.
