COLD LAKE FIRST NATIONS Employment Opportunity JOB TITLE: Medical Transfer Driver Location: Cold Lake First Nations, Health Centre JOB PURPOSE The fundamental reason for this position is to operate transfer units safely and transport clients on a fixed schedule from residence to medical appointments, to effectively interact with the public and enter daily log stats into the MTS database system. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Duties: 1. Safely drive and operate a transfer unit in transporting passengers to and from their medical appointments. 2. Pick up or meet passengers in response to dispatched calls or pre-arranged bookings. 3. Assist elderly and disabled persons in boarding and leaving the transfer unit. 4. Operate a mobile radio or cell phone system. 5. Complete incident and accident report forms as necessary. 6. Observe and report hazardous road conditions and vehicle and passenger safety concerns. 7. Keep transfer units clean inside and out daily. 8. Inspect vehicles prior to beginning trips. Include walk around and vehicle body survey. 9. Inspect vehicles interiors on a daily basis. 10. Perform routine maintenance checks on units (i.e.: check tires, fluids, mirrors, etc.) 11. Ensure that your assigned unit meets mechanical safety standards. 12. Report by radio and/or cell phone to a central dispatcher your location throughout the day. 13. Prepare and Maintain daily reports that should include all information necessary to properly invoice client and submit at the end of each day. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED License and Certificates: ALL Licenses/Abstracts/Medical Certificates must be supplied with resume 1) Valid Class 4, 3, 2 or 1 Alberta Operator’s License and no criminal convictions (a criminal record must be obtained from the police). 2) Medical Certificate for good health and driving ability. 3) Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate. 4) Clear driving record - Yearly updated Driver’s Abstract. 5) Knowledge of First Nations culture, language and community dynamics is considered an asset. WORKING CONDITIONS AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Sit for extended periods of time with limited ability to move about, using their stomach and lower back muscles to support their body. • Drivers work in a variety of weather conditions including hot and very cold temperatures. • Drivers must deal with difficult clients, children, elders and clients with disabilities. • Drivers are expected to work irregular hours that may include evenings, weekend and holidays. • Require Basic Computer Skills – To enter daily log and stats into the MTS System SALARY & BENEFITS Dependent Upon Education and Experience.
