CPIML and Rihai Manch team Visits Village in Arwal, Bihar, Hears Testimony of Youth and Families, Victims of Torture and Abduction by NIA Press release, Arwal, Bihar, 31 March, 2014 A team comprising advocates Mohd Shoaib and Asad Hyatt of Rihai Manch, UP, and CPIML Liberation leaders Dhirendra Jha, Kavita Krishnan, Mohd Salim and Mahanand visited Abgila village, thana Chauram in Arwal district, Bihar, to meet victims of ongoing torture, abduction and terror by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on the pretext of investigating Bodh Gaya and Patna blasts. Maksood Alam, father of 17 year old Aslam Parvez, narrated how his son had been summoned by NIA on March 1, and since then has been in illegal custody of the NIA. Maksood Alam, a member of CPIML, last saw his son on 19 March in NIA custody in Delhi, where he appeared to have lost his mind due to severe torture. Maksood Alam narrated how the NIA displayed a clear political bias in its line of questioning, asking Maksood Alam why he would not vote for Modi. Irfan Ansari, a young man barely out of his teens, showed an x-ray that indicted that his leg was broken due to torture by NIA in Delhi. He also said he had been stripped, beaten, and his head held under water in an attempt to force him to confess to involvement in blasts. Several young teenagers and youth narrated similar testimonies. At a press conference in Patna tomorrow the affected youth and their families will make further details of their testimonies public, and members of the CPIML team will also speak. The Press Conference will be held at IMA Hall near Gandhi Maidan, at 1 pm.
