CRISIS AVERTED, FOR NOW The Pasqua Hospitals overnight emergency services will remain open for at least two more weeks. An agreement between the health region, doctors and the province has developed several commitments which will provide insentives to doctors to work and stay in Saskatchewan, offer academic training and allow all parties to work towards the governments no-waits initiative. Dr. David McCutcheon with the Health Region says the public can be a big help to alleviating stress on the emergency care system over the holdidays like taking care to get flu shots for example. McCutcheon says the community has been a huge help to the process by seeking alternative community resources for their non-urgent health care needs McCutcheon adds the commitments made by the province will make recruiting and more importantly retention of doctors easier.
